Ahead of what is expected to be a bustling summer of travel in the province, Destination BC and Spinal Cord Injury BC have announced a partnership to create and promote accessible tourism.

Through the partnership, announced June 1, Spinal Cord Injury BC will be conducting in-person assessments of different tourism businesses in the Lower Mainland, Sea-to-Sky and Sunshine Coast, advising how they can improve access and inclusion for disabled folks.

Participating businesses will also have their accessibility listings updated on the HelloBC.com consumer trip-planning website so visitors can easily search accessible accommodation, attractions, activities and experiences.

Daydreaming beachgoers can again start booking summer visits to Jetty Island, near Everett, WA. 

The quick ferry ride’s season runs Wednesday, July 6 through Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 5. Other than the one holiday Monday, the ferry is available 10 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. Sundays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, and 10 a.m. to 7:45 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

Reservations are required and cost $3 per person plus tax. Children 2 and younger can board for free.

Jetty Island is a two-mile breakwater just offshore from Everett, and is open year-round to visitors who can get there by boat, canoe, kayak or paddle board. No lifeguards patrol, so enter the water carefully and safely.
