Vancouver is a vibrant city known for its breathtaking scenery, diverse food scene and lively entertainment. Whether you’re a foodie, a cocktail enthusiast or looking for a weekend getaway, this guide will help you make the most of 48 hours in the city.

From iconic dining spots to buzzing nightlife and scenic escapes, there’s something for every traveller to enjoy in this West Coast gem.

Day 1. Exploring the city & indulging in culinary delights

Morning: A delicious start

Start your day with a visit to Medina Café, a popular brunch destination famous for its Liège waffles, lavender lattés, and Mediterranean-inspired plates. The cosy yet modern setting makes it a perfect spot to ease into the day.

After breakfast, head to Stanley Park and take a scenic stroll or rent a bike to explore the world-renowned Seawall. The waterfront path offers breathtaking views of the North Shore Mountains, the Pacific Ocean and the city’s skyline, making for an unforgettable morning in nature.

Granville Public Market, Vancouver.

Afternoon: Savouring local flavors

For lunch, make your way to Miku, a waterfront restaurant known for its signature flame-seared aburi sushi. With its fresh seafood and expertly crafted dishes, this spot offers one of the best sushi experiences in Vancouver.

After lunch, explore Granville Island Public Market, where you can sample artisanal cheeses, fresh produce and delicious baked goods from a variety of local vendors.

If you’re a craft beer enthusiast, head over to Main Street, home to some of the city’s best breweries. Stop by Brassneck Brewery or 33 Acres Brewing for a tasting flight of locally brewed beers, enjoying the laid-back and welcoming atmosphere.

Evening: Fine dining & cocktails

As the sun sets, indulge in a world-class dining experience at Hawksworth, one of Vancouver’s top fine dining establishments. Known for its elegant ambiance and innovative dishes crafted with local ingredients, this restaurant is a must-visit for food lovers.

After dinner, head to The Keefer Bar, a chic speakeasy-inspired cocktail bar in Chinatown, renowned for its apothecary-themed drinks and moody atmosphere. For live music lovers, end the night at The Commodore Ballroom, an iconic Vancouver venue that hosts performances from a range of artists, from indie rock to electronic acts.

Day 2. Adventure & nightlife

Morning: A scenic escape

Begin your second day with a hearty brunch or sandwich to go at Breka Bakery & Cafe (if you missed it on Day 1, it’s worth the visit) or Jam Café, known for its Southern-style comfort food and oversized breakfast plates.

Once fueled up, head to Capilano Suspension Bridge Park, where you can walk across the famous 450-foot-long suspension bridge, surrounded by lush coastal rainforest. If you’re looking for a quieter, budget-friendly alternative, Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge offers a similar experience with fewer crowds and no entry fee.

Afternoon: Exploring the neighbourhoods

For lunch, indulge in the bold and innovative flavours at Vij’s, a restaurant that has redefined Indian cuisine in North America with its creative dishes and impeccable service.

After lunch, explore Gastown, Vancouver’s historic neighborhood known for its cobblestone streets, trendy boutiques and the famous Steam Clock, which lets out a whistling chime every quarter hour.

While in the area, visit The Diamond, a sophisticated cocktail bar with an old-world charm and a view overlooking Gastown’s bustling streets.

Evening: Unforgettable night out

Wrap up your trip with dinner at St. Lawrence, an award-winning French-Canadian bistro that offers rich, flavourful dishes in a cosy, intimate setting.

After dinner, experience Vancouver’s nightlife with a bar hop in Yaletown, a trendy district lined with stylish cocktail lounges and speakeasy-style bars.

Start at The Distillery, known for its handcrafted gin-based drinks, then make your way to Bartholomew, where you can enjoy craft cocktails and a selection of charcuterie.

For a dose of laughter, check out a comedy show at The Improv Centre on Granville Island, where talented performers put on hilarious, fast-paced improv acts.

If you’re in the mood for a late-night bite, Duffin’s Donuts is a Vancouver institution serving everything from fried chicken to fresh-made donuts, the perfect way to end your adventure.
