With fall’s arrival, the Lower Mainland begins to transform into its own autumn wonderland, offering an abundance of nature to explore.

For those seeking to embrace the crisp fall air, gorgeous views and vibrant colours, here are five photo-worthy hiking trails to explore around the region, from easier options to more vigorous climbs.

In North Vancouver, Maplewood Flats is a prime location for bird watching along the shores of Burrard Inlet and enjoying the fall colours.

Beyond being a prime location for bird watching along the shores of Burrard Inlet, Maplewood Flats offers an escape to experience the soothing sounds of the forest and the breathtaking display of fall’s vibrant colours.

Against the gentle rustle of leaves and chirping of the birds, hikers enjoy a manageable three- to four-kilometre loop, making it suitable for hikers of all ages and fitness levels.

As you stroll the path, take in the stunning reflections of golden alder and maple leaves on the water, creating a visual that’s perfect for a nice fall walk.

Conveniently located just a 20-minute drive from downtown Vancouver, this trail is easy to access and you’ll find ample free parking on the road.

For hikers with four-legged friends, a wonderful feature of Pacific Spirit Park is its dog-friendly policy, with certain areas even designated as off-leash.
