The Dungeness Crab & Seafood Festival, one of Washington’s most acclaimed seafood events, is back for a “crabtastic” COVID-safe year!
CrabFest takes place Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 8 to 10, at the Port Angeles City Pier, the Gateway Center, and Red Lion Hotel Port Angeles Harbor parking lot. Admission is free.
“We’ve made changes and accommodations for COVID-19,” says CrabFest Executive Director Scott Nagel. “Our plans have been approved by the Clallam County Dept of Health & Human Services and our staff and volunteers are committed to producing a safe event that is open to all.”
With guidance from local health leaders, organizers have made changes for this year that include reducing the scale of the crab festival complex to spread everything out to use the three-acre site. There will be plenty of seating, outdoors and under canopies, there will be no walls for maximum natural air flow, spread out tables for four and six people for less crowding, First Fed Crab Central seating at 50 per cent capacity, hand sanitizers will be on every table, additional hand wash stations, and line management. Masks are required by order of the Governor, but vaccinations are not required. Please wear your mask except when eating or drinking. CrabFest is Clallam County compliant.
Three Ways to Enjoy Fresh-Caught Dungeness Crab!
The crab is caught right before the festival from local fishers and brought live to the festival site, then cleaned and cooked. Crabs average 2 lbs. Dinners and half-dinners can be enjoyed at First Fed Crab Central with all of the festival food, beverages, entertainment and vendors, served warm or chilled.
Advance discounted tickets for our Dungeness crab dinners are available online at www.crabfestival.org for $39 thru Friday night Oct. 8. We encourage advanced purchase so we can guarantee your dinner. Dinners include a cleaned cooked whole Dungeness crab warmed or chilled, fresh Washington corn and house made cole slaw. (half-crab dinners are also available for $20). At the Festival crabs will be available at a market price until we run out.
Crab-lovers who are unable to eat at the festival can savor the most important part of CrabFest at home with Curbside Pickup. In addition to the whole chilled Dungeness Crab dinner for $39, there’s a cleaned, cooked, wrapped and chilled Dungeness Crab for $32. Crabs and dinners must be ordered by Friday night.
Throughout the grounds, 11 local restaurants will serve-up everything from crab cakes to clam chowder to halibut and chips – more than 50 dishes! Meat and vegetarian dishes are also on the menu, plus great local desserts, beer and wine.
In addition to great food, find more than 70 juried craftspeople, nonprofit and sponsor booths on the pier, along with the Windermere Pier Stage. Saturday activities include a U.S. Coast Guard Air-Sea Rescue Demonstration, an Olympic Peninsula Rowing Association demonstration on Hollywood Beach, and a Peninsula College 5kFun Run.
