While it was a fantastic summer in Fraser Valley, as the air turns a little cooler and the leaves begin to change, we’re all about autumn. In fact, we’re Falling for Abbotsford!

As local farms reap the rewards of the summer growing season, harvest-themed events abound – here’s a look at the fun, the festive and the fabulously frightening!

Thrills & Chills

Prefer your pumpkins on the spookier side of spicy? You’ll find “The Scariest Corn Maze in Canada” right here at Abbotsford’s Maan Farms!

This year, guests are invited to continue Agatha’s saga, with “Agatha Unseen,” a thrilling new chapter that brings immersive and interactive elements designed to push the horror experience to new extremes. The revamped experiences – The Kept: Slaughterhouse; Forsaken: The Way Down; and Echo: Homestead – each deliver a distinct and chilling encounter, promising unforgettable terror for all who dare to enter. Visit scariestcornmaze.com for ticket details and schedule.

New this year in Abbostford is a brand new scare zone filled with thrills, chills immersive activities for families and scare enthusiasts of all ages. Terror at Tanglebank blends spooky thrills, delicious farm-to-table meals and seasonal fun into an unforgettable experience. As dusk falls the forest trails transform into a spooky labyrinth for families to enjoy, with eerier sights and sounds emerging as dusk turns to night. Just remember, don’t go into the woods alone! Check it out at tanglebank.com/terror-at-tanglebank

Pumpkins & spice and all things nice

Start your own Halloween decorations with a visit to Willow View Farms’ pumpkin patch or Taves Family Farm, where you can get into full harvest mode with apple picking and pumpkins – known at the farm as Applebarn Season! Enjoy Farmville with the farm animals and playground, ride the pedal carts, take a hayride and explore corn mazes! You can even relax after all the excitement at Taves Estate Cidery tasting barn.

Picturesque Windberry Farms is a new Circle Farm Tour stop and another Abbotsford must this season – in addition to their adorable Butterbox Self-Serve Farm Store, filled with organic chicken, rainbow eggs, honey and fresh sourdough, you can visit their u-pick pumpkin and squash patch.

As the spookiest of holidays approaches, Abbotsford has even more in store, including the 10th annual MOO or BOO at the EcoFarm Discovery Centre, Saturday, Oct. 26. With a blend of agriculture charm and Halloween excitement, the event welcomes young trick-or-treaters and their families to an exciting carnival-themed event filled with games, spooky crafts, costume contests, farm activities and more!

And on the big day itself, Oct. 31, pint-sized pumpkins can don their costumes for the Downtown Abbotsford Treat Trail, where starting at 1 p.m., participating businesses will hand out treats to all little ghosts and goblins, while supplies last.

Ready to plan your spooky season celebrations? Check out tourismabbotsford.ca/falling-for-abbotsford. And for those celebrating from out of town, book through Tourism Abbotsford’s Stay & Play option and savour a Spooky Stay & Play rate of $150 plus taxes at the Clarion Hotel & Conference Centre Abbotsford and receive a Tourism Abbotsford swag bag and a $25 gift card to Black Casket Cafe!
