New Year’s festivities light up the Alaskan night

As the final hours of 2024 slip away, Alaska’s vibrant energy is ready to light up the long winter night with an array of spectacular New Year’s Eve events.

From the dazzling Torchlight Parade and fireworks at Alyeska Resort to the electric atmosphere of downtown Anchorage, the state’s festivities offer something for every reveller.

Whether you’re skiing by torchlight, dancing under neon lights or toasting 2025’s arrival with a chilled glass of champagne, Alaska knows how to ring in the New Year with flair. So bundle up, step out and get ready to create unforgettable memories in the heart of the Last Frontier.

New Year’s Eve torchlight parade & fireworks

Ring in 2025 with an Alyeska Resort tradition: the Torchlight Parade followed by a spectacular fireworks display! Celebrate the close of 2024 and welcome the New Year with an unforgettable evening. The best viewing spot will be outside of the Daylodge, where you can enjoy the show. This event is free to the public, and all ages are welcome.

Schedule of Events:

  • 8:15 p.m. – Torchlight Parade participants meet at the Base of Ted’s Express
  • 8:30 p.m. – Upload on Ted’s Express
  • 9:00 p.m. – Torchlight Parade begins
  • Approximately 9:30 p.m. – Fireworks begins

It’s important to remember there will be no night skiing on New Year’s Eve, as the mountain will close at 5 p.m.

After the fireworks, stop by the Sitzmark for a lively countdown to midnight. The show is for 21+ only and requires a ticket for entry.

  • Where: 194 Olympic Mountain Loop
  • When: Tuesday, Dec. 31, 11 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Spend new year’s eve in Downtown Anchorage

After sunset, celebrate New Year’s Eve downtown. The main attraction will be the festivities in the Chinook parking lot at 3rd Avenue and E Street.

The Anchorage Downtown Partnership organizes the annual celebration, which features live music performances. The fireworks display will go up at 8 p.m. There are several events, VIP receptions, and other festivities to extend the night.

  • Where: 498 W 3rd Ave., Anchorage
  • When: Tuesday, Dec. 31, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

New Year’s Eve with performances by Robot Rock

Dance to live music with Anchorage’s celebrated cover band “I Like Robots.” Savour the acclaimed cuisine of the Hotel Captain Cook with a succulent prime rib buffet, imbibe sensibly from a well-stocked bar and, of course, toast the arrival of 2025 with champagne at midnight.

  • Where: Hotel Captain Cook, 939 W Fifth Ave., Anchorage
  • When: Tuesday, Dec. 31 at 7 p.m.

Fireworks on the rooftop

Enjoy the fireworks from the best rooftop patios in town! Doors open at 7 p.m., and fireworks start at 8 p.m. Arrive an hour early to get checked in and have a drink in hand. Heaters will be out on the patio, and plenty of winter warmer cocktails will be available.

There are very limited seats and plenty of standing room for cocktailing and admiring the show. All seats, rails, spots, etc., are first-come, first-served.

The party keeps rolling after the fireworks with live music in the Heritage Theater. Tickets include your choice of select Frontier Soda or flagship 49th State Brewing beer. Space is limited on the rooftops, so get your tickets today!

  • Where: 49th State Brewing, 717 W Third Ave., Anchorage.
  • When: Tuesday, Dec. 31; doors open at 7 p.m. and fireworks start at 8 p.m.

Williwaw Social Presents: The ultimate neon masquerade ball

This isn’t just another party; it’s an explosion of colour, sound and energy that will leave you dancing all night long under a dazzling canopy of neon lights and electrifying beats.

The first 400 guests through the door will receive a free masquerade mask, so you can add a little mystery to your look and make this night unforgettable.

When the clock strikes midnight, toast to new beginnings with a complimentary glass of champagne and witness the fireworks lighting up the Alaskan sky at 8 p.m. Be part of the ultimate celebration with a jaw-dropping balloon drop at midnight! Prepare for the confetti chaos and unforgettable cheers!
