One of the Okanagan’s favourite winter events returns for its 66th year this February, with tickets going on sale this week.
Vernon Winter Carnival event tickets go on sale Friday, Dec. 5, at 9 a.m. This year’s carnival, Feb. 6 to 15, celebrates under the theme “Team Carnival – Canada Goes For Gold,” a salute to the 2026 Olympics and Paralympics in Italy.
Presented by Valley First Credit Union, the 10-day Vernon Winter Carnival features more than 101 events happening throughout the North Okanagan, making it one of the biggest Carnivals in its history.
Locals and visitors are invited to come together in the spirit of winter fun, friendly competition, and national pride.
“With long-time favourites returning and many new ticketed experiences joining the lineup, festival-goers are encouraged to secure their event tickets early and explore all events during the 10 days of Carnival,” said Carnival society board chair Vicki Proulx.
“This year’s Carnival is shaping up to be one of our most exciting yet, and with more than 100 events to choose from, from iconic favourites to brand-new themed experiences, there truly is something for everyone. We can’t wait to celebrate with the community and visitors to the North Okanagan.”
Fireworks are also tentatively on the agenda for Carnival, with organizers hoping to hold them in Coldstream. Similiar to the Coldstream Fire Department’s Halloween display, Carnival is looking to rent Kal Beach and the pier on Feb. 14 for a 7 p.m. grand finale of Carnival.
It would be fitting since the first Winter Carnival was held on Long Lake (Kalamalka Lake) on Feb. 23, 1893 before the annual event started in 1961.
With thousands of attendees expected, tickets for popular events are anticipated to sell out quickly.
“Whether you’re hoping to dance the night away, test your competitive spirit, explore local culture, or enjoy family activities, the 2026 Carnival promises a memorable celebration of winter in the North Okanagan,” said Proulx.
Beginning Dec. 5, tickets can be purchased online at vernonwintercarnival.com or in person at Vernon Winter Carnival. Early booking is strongly encouraged.
