Spring is practically on our doorstep, and tourists and locals are set to enjoy the great outdoors once again.
Of the many outdoor areas to explore in Agassiz-Harrison this spring, some will have to wait for just a while longer.
Tourism Harrison River Valley officials have confirmed Sasquatch Provincial Park remains closed to visitors at this time due to heavy storm and flood damage from last fall’s atmospheric rivers that devastated Agassiz-Harrison and the Fraser Valley. The current closures include the Hicks Lake Trail.
Due in no small part to natural disasters in recent years, Sasquatch Provincial Park, located north of Harrison Hot Springs, has been closed to visitors for quite some time. In addition to the closure of the entire park, Sasquatch Park has had a number of closure advisories in recent months that are currently in effect.

B.C. Parks issued a notice in December about trail damage due to storms and flooding in December and another in early November notice stating winter camping will no longer be offered in Sasquatch Provincial Park due to “complexities with road maintenance.”
Camping is normally scheduled to open early next month, but there is no announced opening date in sight for the provincial park.
