Abbotsford International Airport (YXX) runways are about to get even busier, with Flair Airlines recently announcing a major increase in the number of flights it will operate between Alberta and B.C. in 2025.

With the Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and YXX being two of the most frequented airports in Canada for Flair Airlines, the company said that it was excited to reveal that the new year will bring even more daily flights.

According to the recent press release, Flair Airlines announced that at peak frequency in 2025, there would be 25 flights each week from Edmonton to Abbotsford, and another 21 flights each week from Calgary to Abbotsford.

Compared to 2024, that’s an increase of 56 per cent for the Edmonton connection and 50 per cent for Calgary.

Abbotsford Mayor Ross Siemens said that he was excited to see such a substantial increase in service coming to YXX in 2025.

“Flair Airlines shares our commitment to making air travel more affordable and accessible for all Canadians,” Siemens said.

“We are very pleased to see Flair increasing its capacity and offering even more flights to and from Abbotsford International Airport this summer to support our rapidly growing Fraser Valley and Metro Vancouver region and strengthen connections for residents and visitors alike. YXX is looking forward to sending Flair travellers off on their journeys, and warmly welcoming visitors to our region.”

In addition to the YXX flight frequency increase, YVR will also experience a significant increase of 57 per cent between Calgary and 50 per cent between Edmonton.

Flair Airlines said this change will be introduced starting April 2025, with the following summer seeing as many as 340 new flights each month between Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver and Abbotsford.
