Your visit to Hope will bring you to serene breathtaking landscapes and backcountry travels. Hope’s cascading rivers, tall mountains, unending forests and an abundance of outdoor recreational opportunities make it a go-to spot for adventurous travellers.

Hope is a small town that rests between the Coast Mountain and the Cascade Mountain Range. Visit the world-famous Othello Tunnels, hike on countless trails. Explore local gems like the Lake of the Woods, experience the churning rapids of the mighty Fraser River at Hell’s Gate Airtram or go experience Hope’s esteemed white water rafting.

Hope is known as a day-trippers paradise exploring its scenic roads, wilderness valleys, river rafting, mountain biking gold panning, and skiing. Take a helicopter ride above Hope’s majestic mountains, explore local with antique shops, tour of dozens of spectacular wood carvings, or visit the local farmers market. Take the family camping to Kawkawa Lake, or visit the glorious yet hidden Jones Lake as one of Hope’s off-road adventures.

  • Hope is iconic for its Gold Panning since the Gold Rush of North America
  • Home to the Hudson’s Bay Company where the Fort Hope Trading post was established in 1848

HOPE WEATHER

Destination BC is developing a new campaign to promote hyper-local travel where residents are “tourists-in-their own hometown,” while practising the COVID-19 safety protocols as recommended by the B.C. Provincial Health Officer. Many B.C. parks are now open, and national parks were to open as of June 1.

Getting Here

Hope is 90 minutes on Highway 1 Vancouver. Three major highways meet in Hope providing directions to many places. The nearest US border crossing is located at Sumas crossing in Abbotsford. If you are flying the nearest airport is Abbotsford International Airport. There is no public transportation available in Hope. If you plan to travel the backcountry and explore Hope’s mountains a four-wheel-drive vehicle is advised.
