Fall Fun Foliage in Boundary Country

August 25, 2021 //  by Black Press Media Staff

Fall has arrived in Boundary Country! While summer is always a blast, the fall season allows for both similar and different adventures out in this quaint slice of paradise. Boundary Country is well known for its laid back demeanour, but the region seemingly becomes more relaxed as the temperature starts to cool down. This makes fall the perfect time to immerse yourself in Boundary’s natural wonder & eclectic culture.

Fall Foliage and Outdoor Adventure

One of the calling cards of Boundary Country is the plethora of trails that are available to be explored. Clocking in with over 2,000 km (1,243 mi) of accessible trails, Boundary has a diverse trail system with plenty to be seen. The trails are alive in the fall, and one of the best ways to experience the bounty of nature that this region has to offer. Feel a fall breeze comb through your hair on the Paulson section of the C&W Trail near Christina Lake as you mountain bike through hand-blasted (retired) railway tunnels and over man-made trestle bridges. Or take a slower pace with a morning stroll along the Kettle Valley Rail Trail near Rock Creek and keep an eye out for wildlife that is always bustling in the area. Either way you go, fast paced or slower, make sure to take some time to appreciate the transformation of the foliage in Boundary Country that will quite literally change during your visit.

Charming Community Culture & The Arts

What makes Boundary Country, Boundary Country is the communities of people that live, nurture, and love the same space. Take a break from adventure and feed your soul by experiencing Boundary’s artistic expression and sharing community in events.

Meet some kind characters and find the freshest and tastiest goods available in the region at the Farmers’ Markets in Grand Forks and Rock Creek. The Market in Grand Forks runs until the end of October on Tuesday and Friday, while the Rock Creek Market operates every Saturday until the end of September. Events as a whole look differently this year so ensure you stay up to date with what’s happening via the Current Travel Information page and Boundary Events page.

After soaking up the crisp autumn air, be sure to visit one of the arts studios or galleries to pick up your new favourite piece of art! Gallery 2 in Grand Forks features rotating exhibitions in a historic courthouse and Arts on 3 Gallery in Christina Lake puts local artists’ passion and pride on display. Beauty is abundant in Boundary Country, both natural and man-made.

The fall is the perfect time to immerse yourself in Boundary’s natural wonder & eclectic culture. Engage in adventure or chill out and explore the arts, or better yet, do both!
