Five outrageous foods to try in Vancouver

The Beast

The Cannibal Cafe is the ultimate punk-rock-themed burger joint. And the Beast burger comes with eight six-ounce patties, eight slides of oozing cheddar, and eight double bacon strips. Eat it in 30 minutes or less to win a T-shirt, get your photo on the Wall of Fame, and your burger on the house.

Address: 1818 Commercial Dr.

The Spiciest Wings

One of the sauces you can get on your wings at What’s Up? Hot Dog! is called ACTUAL HELL, in capital letters on the menu. They are so hot, they say you have to sign a waiver before ordering. But if you eat them all, without reaching for a dipping sauce, you’ve earned yourself a sticker and your picture goes up on the bar.

Address: What’s Up? Hot Dog!, 2481 East Hastings St.

A Hot Dog with a Twist

Japadog is an extremely popular street-food vendor that features an insane variety of Japanese hot dogs and fries. Their carts are plastered with photos of celebrities that have stopped by to try the goods. Their signature hot dog is the Terimayo, which comes with teriyaki sauce, mayonnaise and seaweed. Try their famous Age Ice dog. It’s a deep-fried hot dog bun filled with ice cream and covered in sugar.

Address: Various locations downtown

The Checkmate Caesar

You’ve seen crazy foods piled on top of this cocktail before. How does a hot dog, whole roast chicken, burgers, onion rings and a brownie sound?

Address: Score on Davie, 1262 Davie St.
