Sun, sand, food and fun are on the summer calendar in Colwood, just outside Victoria.

The action kicks off on May 6 with the first beach food day at Esquimalt Lagoon. A rotating roster of food trucks will set up on the beach every Friday, Saturday and Sunday until Aug. 28.

Saturday evenings from 5 to 7 p.m. will also feature live music on the beach, giving residents even more reason to head down, with May 7 featuring the ever-popular Soul Shakers on the stage.

A full schedule of which food trucks will be open for business each day is available on the city’s website.

On July 30, Colwood brings the fun with a beach party featuring live music and food trucks.

The Eats & Beats Beach Party, held at Lagoon Beach, will also have a beer truck run by the Victoria Beer Society, and activities like rock climbing, paddleboarding, kayaking and oversized beach pong.

Ocean Boulevard will be closed to traffic, but the city is running free shuttle buses from the nearby park and ride and setting up bike racks for those looking to cycle.

For music fans, Colwood brings back its Music in the Park performances Friday evenings from May 6 to Aug. 26, rotating between Herm Williams Park, Colwood Creek Park, Meadow Park Green, and Colwood City Hall. For a schedule of which bands are playing each Friday, visit the city’s website.
