The Taste of Abby fall food festival returns for its fourth year from Sept. 19 to 28, celebrating the city’s harvest and food culture.
The festival launches on Friday, Sept. 19, with the outdoor Night Market at Jubilee Park, followed by 10 days of curated food experiences.
The market runs from 5 to 10 p.m. and features live music and seasonal food creations, ciders, beers and wines by chefs, farmers, brewers and vintners, plus live music and art throughout the evening.
Each vendor will offer a variety of menu options, ranging from samples to full-sized portions.
Night market tokens can be purchased for $2.50 each, with food prices ranging from two to eight tokens based on portion size. (Sample sizes are one token.)
General admission to the market is $35, which includes eight tokens. Admission is free for children 12 and under.
The festivities continue for the remainder of the festival at various venues and include long-table meals, a pasta cooking class, an Abbywood Movie Night, a hands-on floral workshop and more.
The public is also encouraged to visit local restaurants and enter the Taste the Thrill contest for a chance to win a skydiving package for two.
Clare Seeley, executive director of Tourism Abbotsford, said Taste of Abby celebrates what makes the community unique, including its agriculture.
“Harvest season is the perfect time to showcase everything our region has to offer, from the festival to the Fall Flavours Cookbook,” she says.
“What I love about this event is how authentic and collaborative it feels, adding that small-town charm that brings everyone together. It is just like a Hallmark movie.”
The Food and Farm Awards will also be presented in five categories.
