Summerland: This giant blew its stack and hurled lava bombs

The towering Giant’s Head Mountain is the dominant landmark in Summerland, and if you look closely enough and from the right angle, you can see a man’s profile.

The mountain had an explosive beginning when an ancient volcano blew its top, hurling lava bombs across the landscape.

The 500-metre mountain is the volcano’s remnant core. Hikers to its summit will be rewarded with a fantastic 360-degree view. There’s a time capsule at the summit as well.
