More than 500 classic cars will line Chilliwack’s downtown streets for this year’s Fortin’s Village Classic Car Show, Sunday, June 23.

Many downtown streets will be closed between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., with more than 20,000 people expected to flood the downtown area, rain or shine.

“It’s kind of the biggest day of the year for us downtown,” says Trevor McDonald, executive director of the Downtown Chilliwack Business Improvement Association.

Like years past, the show will feature an array of classic cars and collectibles for attendees to admire, while also boasting two different entertainment stages with live music. Vendors, plenty of food trucks, a beer garden, with more than 300 local merchants remaining open for the day round out the festivities.

There will also be an indoor kids’ zone this year complete with popcorn, cotton candy and of course, a bouncy castle.

Among the lineup of cars, some classic movie props will also headline this year’s event.

“We have a place called B.C. DeLorean and they’re based out of Chilliwack and they have all these cars,” said McDonald.

“We have (the cars) from Ghostbusters and Jurassic Park – like, the actual cars – and Wayne’s World.”

Those who want their car on the row must show up at 7 a.m. with owners entering the lineup at Princess Avenue and Yale Road. Registration is $10 per car, with a portion of the earnings being donated to the Salvation Army.

Staff members from the event’s various sponsors will vote throughout the day, with a winner being awarded a trophy at the end of the day at the Central Community Park stage.
