Vanderhoof: You’ll take a step back in time in this lovingly restored building

You can step back in time by visiting the Vanderhoof Museum and Visitor Centre, back to a pioneer era when this logging, mining, transportation and agricultural centre was just beginning to modernize.

Vanderhoof, which means “of the farm”, was named after a railway employee who plotted out the townsite.

Located near the exact geographical centre of the province, the community is also known for fishing, hunting and wildlife viewing and more.

The Visitor Centre is housed in a 1914 Board of Trade Building and the Vanderhoof Communith Museum is on a historic site showcashing restored buildings from the 1900s.

Although the facility was closed at the time this article was posted due to the COVID-19 crisis, it has displays and guided tours from early May to late September. Be sure to check this website as you plan your future trip to learn about current conditions at the facility.
