Fall fields in Spallumcheen are beckoning.
Bloom Flower Festivals presents its Sunflowers festival Oct. 3-5.
“That means fields of gold, music, paint classes, face painting, and the kind of photos that make your friends ask, ‘Wait. Where is this?’” said Bloom Flower Festivals in a release.
Family Friday kicks off the festival Friday, Oct. 3, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Kids 15 and under get free admission. The day also includes Nikki V Music, Face Painting, and Sunflowers and Ciders.
On Saturday, there will be drop-in paint classes, an evening paint class, singer-musician Ryley Booth + Nikki V Music, as well as Sunflowers and Ciders.
The three-day weekend fair finishes Sunday with music all day, the always popular Moo-bile Dairy Classroom, Face Painting, and Sunflowers and Ciders.
There is something different for this year’s festival – no food trucks.
“That’s because we’ve chosen something better,” said Bloom Flower Festivals. “Instead, we’re highlighting amazing Armstrong’s cafés and cideries: PV BLVD Coffee, Wild Oak Cafe, The Clove, The Village Dairy, and Farmstrong Cider.”
How it works is, you call ahead to your favourite spot and order something to go. Bring it with you to the festival and enjoy at one of the event’s picnic tables, surrounded by sunflower blooms.
Or, you can swing by to your favourite spot after your festival visit, and make it a full Armstrong day.
“We’re encouraging you to taste Armstrong at its best,” said Bloom. “Consider it an intentional upgrade: Supporting local, eating well, and making your festival day even better.”
On Wednesday, Oct. 8, it’s Community Day.
Armstrong and Spallumcheen residents receive entry to the fields by donation to the local food bank. For visitors from neighbouring towns, admission is $12.
From Oct. 9-13, it’s All You Can Carry. For $15, fill your arms with as many blooms as you can carry. Just you, sunshine, and flowers for days.
Tickets for the Sunflower Festival and the U-Pick All You Can Carry events are available online at bloomflowerfestivals.ticketspice.com/25sf-bloom?t=mcps1.
Bloom Flower Festivals is located at 4289 Salmon River Rd., in Spallumcheen.
